Baitussalam Micro-Enterprise & Livelihood Support Program

Baitussalam Micro-Enterprise & Livelihood Support Program

The Baitussalam Micro-Enterprise & Livelihood Support Program is a critical component of the Baitussalam Welfare Trust's mission to help the destitute become more self-sufficient. By providing assets, resources, and capacity-building, this initiative transforms beneficiaries from aid recipients into independent entrepreneurs and productive members of the economy.  This program is designed for sustainability and dignity, ensuring the receiver can work and earn for as long as they are alive. It is structured on the core thematic areas of Livelihood, Agriculture, and Livestock.

Livelihood Asset Transfer

This sub-program directly provides working assets and capital to individuals, enabling them to launch small, income-generating enterprises.

  • Transport Assets (Loader Vehicle, Rickshaw): Assets like the Loader Vehicle and Rickshaw are provided to the unemployed to establish immediate, self-managed transport businesses, giving them a steady source of income.
  • Shop/Business Setup: Financial assistance and resources are provided to help individuals—such as widows or the extremely poor—Shop Essential items (دکان کے لیے ضروری اشیاء) or start a small retail shop, ensuring a sustainable source of revenue.

Agricultural & Livestock Empowerment

Targeting rural and agrarian communities, this initiative focuses on boosting output and creating small, farm-based enterprises.

  • Livestock (Cattle): Through the provision of Cattle, Baitussalam empowers vulnerable groups, such as widows, to generate income from milk, breeding, and eventually the sale of animals. Baitussalam also maintains a livestock program for Sadaqah and Aqeeqah services, which supports the broader livestock industry.
  • Agricultural Support: The distribution of Fertilizer (کھاد کی تقسیم) and Agriculture Training (زراعت ٹریننگ) helps farmers increase their crop yields and improve farming practices, leading to higher profits and food security.

Capacity Building & Funding Mechanisms

To maximize the success of these micro-enterprises, Baitussalam provides dedicated support structures:

  • Baitussalam Human Development Program (BHDP): The BHDP is a core component, focusing on capacity building & provision of resources for youth with potential to become entrepreneurs. The program is designed to help skilled laborers and white-collar workers who are currently jobless to exit the crisis with dignity, providing seed investment money to kickstart their ventures.
  • Careobar (Qarz e hasan Program): The Careobar platform facilitates interest-free microfinancing (Qarz e hasan program). This crowdfunding initiative connects investors with aspiring entrepreneurs, ensuring that inadequate resources do not prevent skilled individuals from starting a business. The recovered installments from this revolving fund are used to support new entrepreneurs, creating a self-sustainable model.
